I was born in Santa Monica, CA, and always had a knack for art. I started drawing as soon as I was old enough to hold a crayon. As a kid I collected comics and I would spend hours upon hours reading trying to copy the art with every sketch. As I got older, crayons gave way to pencils, paint, wood and eventually, the computer. I began working as a graphic designer, creating stories with images. My professional career has led me to work within a gamut of industries from snow sports at Spyder to fine art with deviantART.com, from corporate branding to tattoos.
Music is another of my pursuits, I started learning to play bass at the age of 17 and I haven’t stopped yet. I’m sure I never will. I play both electric and upright, and I have played with several bands throughout the years but now I’m mainly focused on my own songs. I also make the instruments I play, two 5 string basses, and I’m in the middle of making 4 new ones; a baritone guitar, a 6 string bass and two lap steels.
The next inspiration that came along (and you know they can’t be ignored) has been writing, directing and producing a feature length film titled, “Overcoming Going Under.” The film is about a troubled young-man whose future abruptly changes when his fiancé is involved in a fatal car-crash. My desire to write this film was born out a creative dry spell. The story started flooding in and before long, a screenplay had been written. About half way through, I realized writing it alone wasn’t enough. The film had to be made. I’m enjoying every step of the process but part of me is just dying to get this done…not to rush to the end of the process but just because I want to see this film! I hope you do to.
